AZTEC Group Review, Expansion in Tokyo: Caretakers for the mentally disabled adult community serving the Phoenix surrounding areas

August 14, 2015

The Arizona Training & Evaluation Center, also known as AZTEC, is a private, nonprofit, IRS approved 501(c)(3) organization that provides a variety of services to any individual in the community who has some disabilities, regardless of age and national origin. In particular, AZTEC offers regular educational activities, employment, and residential services and supports.

We provide our products and services to different communities in Arizona, and the surrounding areas of Avondale, Glendale, Maryvale, Peoria, and Surprise. It’s also possible that AZTEC will have its expansion in several Asian countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Tokyo, Japan.

It’s true that people with disabilities are an important part of our society and community, yet as a group they have been marginalized through bigotry, dependency, discrimination, isolation, pity, and poverty. Most of them don’t have access to communities, employment, health and social services, housing, recreational facilities, and transportation that other citizens enjoyed; AZTEC will change that.

For more than three decades, our incomparable dedication to accomplish our mission statement of “Partnerships Emphasizing Opportunities thru Person-centered Living and Employment” (PEOPLE) has been evident to our continuous growth and numerous accomplishments in helping persons with disabilities to become actively involved in choosing where and how they live, learn and work.

Since 1979, our highly dedicated professional team has served more than 250 children and adults with developmental disabilities with our high-quality programs and services. Our professionals have a great passion, persistence, and patience. They are truly passionate about what they do, and believe in it, and are persistent and never give up.

We strive hard to provide a caring and nurturing environment for people with disabilities. We work closely with their families to increase the community participation, independence, and physical well-being of their loved ones.

We are strongly dedicated to the belief that every single individual has the right to develop his maximum potential regardless of his level of ability. Each individual who has any disability deserve the same dignity and respect as the rest of us.

We deliver opportunities that include a multi-dimensional and ecological approach to personal growth. Based on our review, this approach also reflects the interaction of the person within his environment regarding community, employment opportunities, independence, participation in school, relationships, rights and responsibilities, societal contributions, and overall welfare. We are committed to generating knowledge and professional expertise to support the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the society.

We assist people with disabilities to become more independent, so they can have more control over their own lives. We work with the community to educate and motivate those with all types of disabilities to advocate for themselves.

We encourage people with disabilities to do something by themselves. We can provide services and information, but the individuals requesting them must also be willing to do their part. Instead of solving the problem for them, we’re here to help them find their own solution. That’s the difference between someone making steps towards independence, or becoming more dependent on other people, and that independence is what our belief is all about.

Reviews from different groups in Phoenix, Arizona affirmed that AZTEC could really provide all the support needed by people with disabilities to live a full, happy, independent and successful life.

We invite all members of our community to join us in our venture to change the way we regard and engage with people with disabilities, reverse marginalization and dependency, and develop an integrated society founded on our core beliefs of personal freedom and equal rights.
